Treatment of anal fissure

Treatment of anal fissure

An anal fissure occurs due to a rupture of the mucous membrane of the anal canal as a result of constipation or diarrhea, childbirth and strong tension. Most patients get anal fissure hemorrhoids' background. It is the second proctological disease after hemorrhoids. The main symptoms are severe pain in the anus during defecation, spasm of the sphincter and a slight bleeding.

The pain can last differently - from several hours after defecation to several days. Spasm is felt as pressure, heaviness in the anus area, it increases the pain and forces the person to refrain from the toilet, which worsens the situation.

Anal fissures can be acute or chronic. Diagnosis of the disease is quite simple - the doctor just needs to examine of the anus.

Treatment of anal fissure depends on the stage and duration of the disease. The most common causes of anal fissures are chronic hemorrhoids or constipation. Normalization of defecation and elimination of spasm with medication allow to successfully cure the disease at the initial stage. Following dietary recommendations prevents and treats constipation, while an individually selected conservative treatment ensures full recovery.

For acute anal fissures we use conservative therapy and infrared coagulation, it has proven its effectiveness in more than 70% of cases. Chronic anal fissures are characterized by a large number of relapses, therefore, in the treatment of this pathology, we recommend surgical treatment - excision of the anal fissure with dosed sphincterotomy.
